Thought Boomerangs

Source

Ever feel like you had one negative thought only find yourself drowning in a downward spiral a few minutes later? Yup, We’ve all been there.

A dear friend once suggested a solution I could try, to pull myself out of a fit of anger. Here’s how it goes: As soon as I observe myself being in a state of anger, I need to acknowledge it and then immediately find something to be grateful for. I didn’t realize how effective this could be until I tried it for myself and it worked every single time, like magic. Just one thought of gratitude was enough to douse the flames of my anger. Doing this exercise helped me understand just how powerful our thoughts are.

Every thought that originates in your mind is like a boomerang. It travels out into the world, picking up other thoughts of similar resonance before returning back to you. That’s why everything you think, amplifies and multiplies over time, leading you to feel the way you do.

I decided to take this a step further and integrate it into a daily ritual. I now, start and end my day with one thought of gratitude. This simple practice has helped me stay happy, upbeat and attract more things to be grateful for, by choosing to see the brighter side of life.

It all begins with a single thought. As elusive our thoughts are perceived to be, they are the most powerful building blocks of our reality.

What is the one thing you are grateful for today?
